Hi Kiwi Bowler,

Thanks for that, I've always pictured New Zealand as a warm climate with warm winters, then as you say some areas are warmer than others.

Have some good friends who immigrated to Spain 10 years ago, they are beginning to regret the decision. At first they loved the climate, low cost on living and little crime well all thats change its still sunny, they spend every day indoors and bowl in the evening, the Euro has made living very expensive and crime they say is worse than the U.K with gangs of eastern Europeans causing substantial crime!!! Worse thing is house prices have collapsed in Spain so the can't sell up and move back to the U. K. what a tale of woe!!!!!!!!!!

Still soon be summer for you, you do seem to have a short winter????

Hi Tourist, from another very cold Auckland morning, the property market is pretty much the same here in most parts of the country.

and the work market is not too good here either, being trying for a year now to find a job, but it seems once you get past 50 no one wants to employ you.

I get told we would prefer a younger person or you are over qualified etc

Anyway our Lawn Bowls season here is from the first Saturday in September to the first Saturday in May.

So winter bowls is usually from mid May to end of August (approx 4 months).

Appreciate your views on your economy, quite a concern that the world problems seem to be all over the developed world!!

Good thing is that once you have got the gear bowling is quite a reasonable hobby, probably one on the most reasonable around!!

P S wish we had a 4 month winter, ours start from October till the end of May 7 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning all another very cold and wet day here in Auckland and to top it off both my son and I have the flu .

Even so if it's not raining Sunday I'm still going to play bowls in a pairs competition, as I have been looking forward to it all week.

Sorry to hear about your flu theres a lot of bugs going around this time of year, its hard when you have been looking forward to a game to pull out,
But I went and played a while back with a very bad cold and ended up in bed for a week, didn't get much sympathy from the other half,
Kept telling me I was a B Fool

Hi Surfer

I played bowls Sunday, but took some Codral Cold & Flu Tablets before going to stop the cold & Flu Symptoms.

It worked while I was at bowls, but we didn't play all that well and loss both our games.

I have still got the flu, but I think I'm over the worst now, just got this cough that won't go away and a sore throat.

Sorry to hear that you have not been well, expect it's the winter weather!!

Speaking of winter weather bit like the U.K. at the moment, we've had such a sunny hot May & June but July we have so many canceled games (because of the weather) to catch up! Our league in my County finish in a week but will run well into August this year catching up on re arrange games

Keep taking the tablets!

Theres an awful lot of things going around I have been a bit unwell myself but am now on the mend it really gets me down when I cant get up and about I had to pull out of an important game last week,
Glad to hear you are on the mend Kiwi its best to take your time and get yourself really fit i made the mistake of trying to work through it and ended up spending more time laid up than was needed,

Haven't been Bowling for a while so I am looking forward to my next game

Yes I'm just about over my flu, but still have this cough that won't go away.

Lots of winter coughs and colds in my club last winter, hard colds to shake off,
these bugs must be traveling the world!
