Hi Everyone,

Out of the blue my indoor club have organised a Bowling tour to Turkey in October with 30 names already committed to going.

Cost is just under £600 half board (sounds a great price) Hotel Oyken is the hotel not sure of the resort will post later!!

Has any one been to Turkey in October? whats the weather like? is it good value??

We are 99% committed to going as sounds good & some of our friends are going.

Any views would be appreciated:cool:

Your Tour sound Brilliant Sunshine and thats a really good price for two weeks wish my Club would organize something
We used to go on Tour in the UK but because of lack of numbers it sort of petered out,
There has been some talk about getting it going again but no one wants to take it one,

Hi Sunshine,

Went on holiday to the resort of Calis Beach
where the hotel is situated. Not a bad area quiet but no
larger louts etc etc. Friendly and relaxing suggest you
'Goggle' the area & hotel there are some decent reviews of the net.

As for a bowling tour not like going to Spain where you can bowl against other clubs, would think there would be a lot of bowling against yourselves or any other tourists at the hotel!!

If you go have a great time!!!8-)

Hi Sunshine,

Sunshine you might not in October certainly late October as its the start of the rains!! Although like everything especially with the climate these days it could be great weather.
Some of our friends went in September last year, not in your resort, & had a good time.
They did not go out much because of the hassle with street traders etc, put them off a bit, but thats life.
We have had a week in Egypt on the Nile, cheap as chips and BRILLIANT, mind you there have got the hassle & begging off to a fine art, felt sorry for any women on there own!!!!

Hi Sunshine,

Looks a great price, an indoor club near ours is also planning a tour, understand that some are keen for Spain, bit late in season, others are put of with the price of the euro.
My wife has some friends at the other club & is considering going with them, she rather go to a non euro land so Turkey sounds GREAT do you know who & how your organizer booked with.
Any info will be greatly appreciated, Thanks:cool:

Hello All
I am new to this site - and joined as I heard about some activity in Turkey regarding a bowls competition. I am based in Turkey and a professional events manager (freelance).www.xcellenteventsturkey.com

FYI at the moment ( Friday 5th Feb 2010) it is bright sunshine in Belek, Turkey, but very cold - snow on the mountains.

There has been, for the last 4 weeks, lots of European Professional football teams here in winter training camps ( Glasgow Rangers Fenerbache and Bayern Munich teams, plus apparently, other teams from UK, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Hungary, Romania and of course Turkey in the area.

I have had the chance to stand on the sidelines ( for free!), watch and be in talking distance to some of the top professional football players in the world.

Please ask me anything you want about the Hotels in Southern Turkey ( I mostly know the areas from West to East - Gocek / Olu Deniz / Fethiye/ Kalkan / Kas/ Olympos/ Kemer/ Antlaya/ Lara Beach / Belek / Side / Alanya. Obviously there is Istanbul - but it is a city.

I would be happy to give you any background regarding Turkey.
why am i here in Turkey? fell in love with a Turkish guy - whilst on holiday - call it a Shirley Valentine moment !!

Look forward to answering any of your questions.
Beverley

Hi Beverley Rose-Ölmez,

Thanks and welcome to the site Truly great that you have posted on the site & this holiday thread!!

Do you know anything about the resort of Calis Beach
and what the weather is likely mid October.

Thanks for any help you can give, have looked on the internet but get a lot of conflicting advice.

Thanks again & sounds like you have a great life in Turkey:cool:

Morning Sunshine,

Thats what we had in Turkey last year in last 2 weeks in September (in between outdoor & indoor bowling, how sad) had a great time completely away from bowls, gives the back a rest!!!

Sounds great the bowling tour can imagine a great time for 2 weeks in Turkey, we found the people very friendly and helpful, can imagine any ladies on there own would feel the harassment in markets etc a bit intimidating! Mind you thats what you get all over these days.
Apart from England generally, think we support our people better with benefits etc!!

Thanks Keith,

Yes a great price, after the details were put up on the club board, another 16 members & friends want to go. Our organizer says over 50 want to tour we are normally around 30.

Trouble is the hotel is nearly or full so rooms are becoming a problem, had a couple of Private messages wanting details & asking if they could join our tour!!

so despite these economic times if the price is right people have the money:D
