Any New Ideas for Raising Club Funds

Morning All you Bowlers

If your Club is anything like mine we are fast running out of different Ideas on how to raise extra funds in these lean times,
At our AGM it was noticed that our main bank funds are going down every year so we are running at a loss,
Sure we are not alone thought if any other Club had come up with some new Ideas would be good to put them to the Committee,

Its like any Business got to break even or make some profit to keep going

Hi Surfer

Same old problem every year with everybody hanging onto there cash its getting more difficult,
Every year we have a big Christmas Coffee Morning and all lady members bring one item for a Christmas hamper it ends up a Raffle Prize worth winning, and with a few more stalls we did very well,
But I can see us struggling next year going to have to tighten our belts and try and economies where we can,

Watching this thread hoping to get some new ideas

Hi Angel,

Tis an old problem, clubs are always on the make, I think its easier if there is a specific need and you can see the progress on things.

Years ago my club committee kept all the finances very secret and gave very few details at the A G M, so caused a lot of suspicion, over the years new committees have been more open and now they publish exactly what is raised at each event and we have become financially well off or as much as we can be!!

At my old club we had a garage sale of second hand goods every 2 years, where members brought stuff they no longer wanted. They also had a suaguage sizzle and a cake stand.

Like the sound of the Sausage Sizzle Great Idea, We have a table where they sell books twenty pence each people buy them have a read and then bring them back also anything they don't want gets put onto this table raised about three hundred pounds last year, not to be sniffed at this amount of money,

Hi Surfer, our club is La Marina, 25 miles south of Alicante, we raise money
by Bingo & quiz nights, Dinner and dances raffles and events like fun days when anyone can play with the winners, second and third place get rizes of whatever it is on the day be it booze or meat or vouchers of some sort,
best I could do was an Easter egg on the spider. Terry:)

Hi Terry love the spider never win anything not even an easter egg, but good fun everyone trying to recognize whose bowl is closest, a good
way to raise funds.

We also have a lot of Bingo in the winter one a month with prizes of joints of meat or pork etc,

Get a lot of non Bowlers who come, means we are not always asking Bowlers to put their hands into their pockets.

It would Be much easier to put up your Club Subscriptions then everyone has to pay, we find its the same members who donate good bake and man the stalls and then end up buying the things back the rest of the Bowlers make excuses and stay home.


Sorry letting off Steam spent all day trying to Buy Christmas Presents.
