Evening Everyone from a very Windy Cornwall,:(

Have been roped into this years Club Tournament Indoors its held over a Weekend on a Round Robin, where you play all day and come home exhausted and wonder what the devil you entered it again for,
The standard of Bowling is dreadful to say the least and the more talented Bowlers will give the rest of us a hammering, bit like slow torture.
I think they should have a handicap system would make things more fair the prize money is very good.

Ok, a good idea, most clubs have a singles handicap game. However, how would you do it for all club players and what would be the benchmark.

Hi mk-lawnbowls Snapper,

Good point, everyone is a great bowler until it comes to handicapping, then they want the best deal possible and can cause all sort of problems!!

Snapper, it's good that there are lots of entries for your indoor tournament, I find that often the most unlikely team wins!!!
If your suggest a handicapping system however it's concocted it might result fewer entries?:D

Have a great day at the tournament, know it's tiring but there are many less fortunate that would love the opportunity!!!

Best way is to have a level playing field, everyone has the same chance on the day a lot of games its Length weight and luck,
Sure the best Bowlers will win on the day have seen some favorites and big headed twits take a tumble much to the amusement and delight of the spectators.

Got to agree with you mk , be a nightmare for the organizer nobody would be happy with their handicap.
These Tournaments are supposed to be fun but where prize money is concerned all sense goes out the window,

Do you have spot prizes with this Tournament? This always makes them more fun, when anyone has the chance of winning a prize.

Hi Kiwi Bowler,

Good idea for spot prizes as it keeps the interest!

Unfortunately there is no spot prizes during the competition, trouble is at my club if it ain't the dominant 1 or 2 ideas, nothing is listened to or happen.
Seems to be the same in several clubs:(

Will suggest it at the A.G.M. you never know.

Thanks Kiwi Bowler

Hi Surfer, I'm just wondering does Snapper belong to the same bowling club as you?

Morning Kiwi Bowler
He could well be shall have to keep a look out for someone who looks like a Surfer,
We only have five Indoor Bowling Clubs in Cornwall two with outdoor greens, All Bowlers who play in the winter come from a large number of Clubs think its around thirty six, Surfer could come from anyone of these I think he might belong to one which is near the coast,
Most Indoor Clubs run Tournaments at this time of year it raises much needed funds, problem is with good prize money we get Top Bowlers who come from as far away as Plymouth and put them against the average Club Bowler its no fun getting beaten 31- 5
On reflection a handicap system would be difficult,

As to Surfer you have really given me something to think about shall do a bit of Investigation:roll: I could be Bowling next to him and not know,????

Morning Snapper

I might know who you are

Have seen a few familiar faces on the Members Photos,
Am not giving anything away my memory is not what it used to be I could have posted a few controversial topics, would hate to upset such a good looking Bowler:grin::smile:
If you find someone standing close and giving you a few strange looks could be me,

Yes it's a small world, a bowler on Sunday started talking to me about his new bowls.... and I was thinking to myself I know you.
So I had a look at his name on his bowls bag and yes I new him. I then said to him I know you.... but I had to tell him my name for him to remember me. After that he did and he even remembered my wife's name..

He was my ex Area Manager from NZ Post who I hadn't seen for approx 15 years:grin:

Hi Kiwi Bowler,

My big trouble is that I can remember faces on the bowling green but if they say 'Hello' down town I haven't go a clue where I have seen them!!

Names then I shake hands at the beginning of a game then it just goes from the memory I think that I just concentrate so hard of the game that I just can't do both, feel really guilty at times if not a bit embarrassed:(

Hi All,

I have the same trouble, names come into my head in one ear and out the other!!!

I see other Bowlers with the same trouble, I have my name embroider on each top/jumper, always handy often see other bowlers looking at the name before speaking to me then often they start the conversation with 'John..........

Think it must be a senior thing, but then always have had the same trouble!!!

Hi Bowlers,

Glad its not just me, can remember faces, providing they are on bowling greens, but names I'm at a loss, (given up worrying).

My friends Mum has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's they are at their wits end,
Would be my worst nightmare you wouldn't know if you had it, going to get one of them games that exercise the mind
Every time I go upstairs and then wonder what I went up for

My Old man tell me its something else for me to worry about,:(
