G'day all,

I've just discovered this forum, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I've been playing bowls for around 12 years and have played Premier Div in Melbourne. Currently, I'm on the other side of the continent, at Esperance in Western Australia.

Cheers!

Hi Keith Maniac,

A warm welcome to another Bowler from O Z, this is a busy site with several bowlers from 'Down Under'.

I Bowl at a busy Club in Somerset which is in South West England our Club is bucking the U K trend with it's membership increasing whilst several Clubs around us are struggling for members.

Our U.K championships at Worthing ended last week with the season winding down & just the County finals over the next couple of weeks to look forward to.

Anyway welcome to the site:D

Another member from The Land Down Under.

Irish by birth, Australia by choice, thus the user name of IrishBowls.

I enjoy regular games of social bowls, I have played Pennant but prefer just to play socially.

Cheers.

Hi Irish Bowler,

Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Will be interesting over the coming months to hear how the 'Irish' settle in to Australia and the banter.
There is certainly some light hearted banter with the Oz's & Poms!!!

Del, "the Irish settle in to Australia". It was the Irish who settled Australia!:)

Thanks for the welcomes and now that the silly season is over it's time to get back into the routine.

Cheers.

Morning Irish Bowls,

Thanks for the correction. Must have been the Irish who were the prison guards & introduced the art of Bowls??

Hello Wicker, was browsing through the posts and saw your post. I don't know Hillsborough well, but was visiting friends in Lisburn in 1999 and I recall driving through Hillsborough on the way to a Vintage Tractor Musuem.

I left N Ireland in 1964.

Cheers.

Thanks Irish Bowls, good to hear from you again, expect like me you noticed the changes in N.I. so built up & improved living.
Hillsbough so 'upmarket' these days, like so many other places completely priced out of the first time buyer market!!
Who ever thought N I would go that way!!!!

Probably looking through rose glasses but the old days everyone knew everyone with meetings on the corners etc, not these days everyone in a rush etc.

Never played bowls etc, not sure where the nearest bowls club in Hillsbough is, how sad.

Have some great bowls,

Wicker
