View Full Version : Fair share of good green settings
Fed up going out and playing on the worst green settings, the mens A team always get the best.
But when it comes to the Ladies league games or even important competitions, we are playing off rink its nearly impossible to draw to the jack,
We complain every year and nothing changes do other Ladies have this problem in their Club.

Morning Bowlers
Got to admit as I am not an A team Bowler and I have the odd moan about the rink settings,But if everyone were to use the best ones then the
green would be ruined before Season had started,
Do think everyone should be given their fair share of decent rinks to play on we all pay the same subs
But I do know some Clubs where their Mens A team have the best rink settings every time they play, leaving the rest of the Club to struggle on
off rink settings.
Subject needs bringing up at your next AGM

Hi Surfer,
Although I don't agree with it the men A & B team get priority on the best settings in my club.
As the men do the green & the women the kitchen we give the women any setting but (ours) so to spread the wear around & keep the best settings for us to have 'home advantage' when playing league bowls etc!!
Good job the women don't do the same in the kitchen or all the men would be having out of date food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Del:D
Del your a brave man to admit that this goes on, just as well you don't belong to my Club  OR DO YOU????
You would never get a fresh faith tea again, might leave the bread for a week or two,
Back to a serious subject this practice of the men keeping the best rinks for A team league games is wrong,
Everyone including the C and D mens teams all pay the same subs why should a small number of Members get preferential treatment,
Jean:confused:
Well Jean,
I bowl in Somerset if you do, drop me a private message, hate to embarrass myself in public!!!!
On the subject of 'teas' unfortunately I abstain from the pleasure, my girlfriend told me the bread is often the cheap long life stuff and the use by/best before dates are sometimes questionable!!
Mind you never seen anyone ill I think they get hardened by never washing hands before tea and all the chemicals etc on the green has given our bowlers a stomach that would take some upsetting*********

Well Del some of the men certainly have a stomach, seen some sights in our Club, why is it men wear trousers with the bottom nearly reaching their knees, us ladies sit some nights and swear its only a matter of time before the whole lot falls down.
As for the large bigger than average male Bowler
Must be the bread which is frozen and then thawed before we make the sandwiches for the faith teas could be out of date as well
Bit like some of the Male Bowlers in the Club

The Green I played on last night, should have been dug up have never seen anything like it,
Even the jack was jumping over the ridges as it went up, not gong to say what my Bowls were doing
Hi Jean,
Funny old subject this 'tea' thing had a couple of touring sides this week complaining about the 'tea' they were given at a couple of previous clubs on their tour.
At my Club they give a full tea including sandwiches/cakes etc all in date.
What I can never understand is that these touring sides have a great big breakfast, bit of lunch before they bowl in the afternoon THEN back to the hotel for a big meal in the evening!!! Can never understand how the Greens stand the weight at the end of the week!!!****************
