A Club in my Area took the decision not to accept a well known Bowler into the Club
The person in question was on every committee and known to be very difficult and argumentative expecting to get his way on every issue,
Now Clubs are refused membership to Bowlers for the flimsies of reasons, some personal,
Is there any rule that says what a Club can refuse membership for,
If anyone knows I would be grateful for any info,

Hi Peter,

Not sure if there are any set rules on refusing membership, I have noticed lately that Clubs are being more particular about who they let join,

epically as you do get certain people who cause problems and unrest among members, and then leave on and do the same Thing at a new Club ,

Clubs can do without disruptive members bad enough with the ones we've got,

Hi Sam & Peter,

Years ago no problem with laws etc, but not many refused. Normally if no objections from membership the committee should approve membership!!
Today committees have to be sure on the grounds of refusal and not in breach of any of the discrimination laws. I personally think it would be a nightmare for any untrained committee to refuse entry as the laws today are a minefield.
If a club member objects to an application on the grounds of being a 'troublemaker', this is probably hearsay an could cause all sorts of problems if it became involved in a legal claim!!!!

Although have known recently a couple of refusals in our area, I think the applicants just accepted it and joined other clubs.
