Review of the Laws of the Sport
Bowls England is encouraging Members to have their say on the Laws of the Sport of Bowls.
The current edition of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls (Crystal Mark Edition) was approved by the World Member National Authorities (MNAs) at the Biennial Council Meeting held in Melbourne in March 2006. At this time it was agreed the next review of the laws would be undertaken on a timescale which would allow an updated version to be submitted to MNAs, including Bowls England, for approval at the Biennial Council Meeting in Delhi following the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
At its meeting in February this year, the Board of World Bowls approved a process and timetable for conducting the review prepared by its Laws Committee.
In line with this, World Bowls has asked Bowls England and all other MNAs to submit their proposals for changes to the laws to WB by 31st October 2009. Each proposed change should include the following:
- current law number (if proposing a change to/deletion of a current law) or proposed new law number (if proposing an addition to the laws)
- proposed change (the proposed wording of the changed or additional law) or the wording of the current law which should be deleted
- rationale behind the proposal (the reasons why the proposal is being made)
Tony Allcock MBE, Bowls England Chief Executive, said: "This review gives members the opportunity to have their say on the Laws of the Sport of Bowls. We will collate all responses and respond to World Bowls on behalf of all members, including the umpiring bodies in England for men and women, by the set deadline."
Anyone wishing to propose a change should write to: Laws of the Sport Consultation, Bowls England, Lyndhurst Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 2AZ or e-mail: enquiries@bowlsengland.com (enquiries@bowlsengland.com)
Well Bowlers Not sure if its me but I would need a lawyer to sort out the wording, need things in plain English
Sure they will have more than a few People and Clubs sending in suggestions, can think of a few myself but they aren't printable
