Its about time Clubs gave Skips some training before letting them play in this position
Am fed up playing with Skips whose arms are like windmills, the most annoying thing is when they shout up the rink same as before,
What the Hell do they think I am trying to do, ?????

Does anyone else think like I do, its always the more aggressive people who want to Skip,
They think they are better Bowlers, but when it come down to it, Bowling is like a game of Chess
Its all about Patience and getting second wood, not firing through the head and going down by fours and fives,
Angel:rolleyes:
I have played with some very annoying Skips, could cheerfully strangled some of them Do think its a good idea to have some sort of
instructions for anyone who is going to play in this position
They seem to think that playing Skip means they are a better bowlers than the rest of us ,Some couldn't draw to save their lives

What I don't understand Some Skips love to give players lots of useless information,But when the number three tells the Skip which way to
come he is totally ignored
They think they are the only ones who can possible know what to do,

Bowling seems to bring out the worst in People, seen some Skips really throwing tantrums, know one Chap who will take off his Cap and throw it with such force to-wards the spectators, its a wonder he hasn't hit omeone before now,
He is well know for this sort of behavior,
Very Good Bowler, thats why he gets away with it

Sounds like a Typical Skips Comment, if the team Wins its the Skip who does it, If they Lost its the Front End who are to Blame

Hi Bigbear,
Well said have seen some awful skips who simply do not understand that
it is the Back end that saves but the FRONT end that wins!!!

Hi Frankie, yes the Skip is there to save the end when the opposition team are holding shots or shots.
As for the rest I think it's a team effort
Got to be a team game if you don't gel you might as well stay at home, would be best if Clubs kept winning teams together,
Our Club will win one year and next year they split the team cant understand the thinking on this one

No Bigbear I am not a regular skip. I just stay away from minefields amd politics.
Hi Umpire,
Must agree with you 100% skips seem to get involved with the 'politics' a real nightmare, also a lot of bowlers like to chunter behind the smoke screens.
I stay right out of it, play where I am picked, turn up, bowl and enjoy the game!

Should Train Some Skips to Shut Up
When Players are down on the mat ready to Bowl, all you hear is I want one here,
I feel like giving them one and Im not talking about my Bowl,

When I was a Two or Three I was taught to follow the instructions of my skip.
I have seen some Two's and Three's seem to be in such a great hurry to bowl their bowl, why? maybe so they don't have to listen to their Skip? or because they think they know better?
But prehaps the next time you step up to the mat you should look to your Skip for instructions first?
Good Reply Kiwi Bowler
Its not much fun when you Skip if the front end is halfway up the Green, with a wall of woods in front,
It surprises me Skips don't shout More, I think leads and twos should have to play Skip position a few times, might give them some ideas what its like to Play Skip,

Hi Pops, Had a couple of two's playing skip yesterday and the skips playing two's and they found out you can't just draw all the time and it wasn't as easy as they thought to read a head. By the way both these two's that played skip lost there games.

Not Surprised, always think Bowlers should lead for at least three years before progressing onto Skip Position,
And being coached on a position would be a very good idea, they coach you on everything else,
The Clubs are very hot on having people with proper qualification

Played with a Skip this week, and she was dreadful the green were really fast, and every time she came into the head she gave shots away,
After that I suppose she got frightened and was short with both her woods, we would be holding threes and fours and the opposition Skip would draw shot end after end,
Soul Destroying if I ever get as bad as that I will give up, she was in her seventies
What are Selection looking at,

Barbie we all have our good and bad days no matter our ages and being in her seventies makes no difference.
A while ago I played in a mixed triples tournament with 2 bowlers both aged 87, with me playing Skip and we came second with 4 wins.
And I can also tell you I didn't have to do much work as one of these bowlers always seemed to have a bowl right by the jack.
Well Done Kiwi Bowler,
Sounds like a good game great when you get a player who is on the jack
Have made the same mistake, played Bowlers that when you see them you think, I'm going to be alright here
And come off the rink shaking your head because they are absolutely brilliant, epically if they have the odd bandage and use something that picks the Bowls up for them,
Can never underestimate an aged Bowler got more experience
