Two identical models one size 5 heavy and one size 3 heavy. In theory they should bend the same but in practice which one would you expect to bend more?

This is a tricky one, I have played with drakes pride and they take a big wide swing, the newer woods like Tiger and Classic will take a much narrower line,
I would have thought the heavier Wood should take a straighter line,I have been thinking of changing to a larger Bowl but I am not sure, might be a bad thing at the beginning of the Season, could end up playing like more of a Pratt than I am already Surfer:cool:

Hi Bowlers,

Always thought and watched smaller bowls bend the most, but know what you mean when exactly the same make & different sizes you get different bias.

Then I have always thought that the delivery action on sizes can make a big difference, guess the only true way is to use the chute that is used for bowls stamping!

On exception is my wife & I used Dreamline indoors for a while she used 0's mine size 4's with similar bias.

So in summary I think the smaller the woods the greater the bias.

My Wife and I both bowls with size 3 Classic 2s heavy and they can act differently on the same rink. I think that its a matter of how you deliver and bowl.

Don't think you can tell all depends how far you swing them out, and if the green is running fast,
In August I have played on some really fast greens and I have had to go right out to the string, when its wet and heavy on the same green, you can go nearly straight ?????

Nearly impossible to tell, I find all wood even the same make act differently, my Husband plays with the same Bowls as me but if I try and take

the line that he does, mine end up nowhere near the jack, sure its something to do with the way he delivers them:roll:

I have a simular problem but put it down to my Wife being a better bowler than me. Its probably why I became an unpire.

Thats very honest of you Umpire not a lot of Hubby's would say that, mine turns into a monster with two heads when we have a roll up, he has

got to win at all costs and wont talk on the way home if I win, we stopped going in the mixed pairs because of the way he behaved,

Strange thing is he doesn't shout at his new partner when she is short

We always try not to play together on club days or even on the same rink as we like to play with different people.

We do play pairs together but I now lead and let her skip me. Saves the problems when she is asked to change hands. Other skips have no problem just me.

Been married 50 years this August so we must be doing something right.:D

Hi Umpire

Thats Lovely being married so long, Congratulations its quite an achievement

Played one particular couple in the mixed pairs it was at their Club and they had brought along a good number of friends for support

When they started to lose as they passed on the green a few choice words were said,

And their game went down hill after that, when we went back into the Club house it was deserted everyone had abandoned ship.

They were both very good badged Skips, perhaps that was the problem:roll:
