Does anyone have tips on how we could attract new and younger members to our club? Our numbers have been falling over the last few years, and we really need to find more support from the local community. Has anyone had any experience of successful schemes to raise membership please?

Yesterday the Bolton Flat Green BC in Lancashire had an intrduction day where members brought along someone who has not bowled before. The result was 29 new bowlers spent the day there. How many will take up membership is anyones guess.
This information is on their web-site

We had a day where we invited the local Womans Institute, and managed to get one of our Top Lady Bowler to give a talk, and they arranged a day where they would get everyone on the green
It was very successful and the club managed to get six new Lady members
Its worth a Club checking these organizations out, as they are usually looking for speakers at there meetings

Hi Umpire
Having an introduction day is a great idea, and getting twenty nine non Bowlers there is Fantastic, we have tried this a few times
I think People look on Bowling as an Old Peoples Sport, they don't realize what good fun it is.
Our Club Committee is still trying to think of more ways to attract New Members Angel

Maybe an ad in the local paper, aimed at the people newly umemployed and sitting at home, it seems there's quite a few of us now who have lost their jobs with this depression on.
Now thats not a bad idea Kiwi Bowler, have been listening to the Local News and one or two of the big Companies are closing down production
for a month, think they are hoping things will get better and more orders come in,
The Government is always saying they are encouraging health and fitness perhaps they might fund the unemployed to take up Bowling
The latest thing is they are going to give the less fortunate security locks for their windows and doors
Only thing wrong with that is with everybody out of work, no one will be able to afford anything worth pinching:(:(

Our Club has fun days, where all the members are encourage to bring along a friend who is a non bowler,
We don't get huge numbers but we do get the odd person joining, I think this is the way to go, because once someone tries Bowling they find out what a fun and skilled sport it can be,
