Its that time of year Folks where Selections Committees are meeting up and down the Country deciding what and where us Bowlers are playing and in which teams
Heard some Players saying its only a game and I don't care what team I play in until the lists go up
Have you ever heard the saying 'Wailing Wall' thats where they put up the Team Selection
I'm not playing with him I would rather stay home, most emotional time of the year and then you get the movers who have moved Clubs so many times they have no where else to go
Interested to know if all Clubs and Bowlers Act the same way when it comes to Selectiion of Teams
IS IT ONLY MY CLUB WHERE WE GET THIS:roll:

Hi Peter you've said it, I'm sure Bowlers keep thinking and talking about selection all Winter
Got to be a pride thing we got a number of Bowlers who were very good in their day,
They still insist on Skipping teams and because they are on Committee and Selection get away with it
No Wonder our Club doesn't win anything
The Only Bowlers Wailing when the Teams Go Up are the newish talented Younger Members:confused::confused:

As one of the Elderly Decrepit Bowlers that your talking about, if it wasn't for members like us who take up the mantel and run Clubs and do the work that the younger members wont do
You wouldn't have a Club to Bowl in
Take great offense that you are saying we wont put young or talented Bowlers into A teams
In my Club they have to prove their ability and win the Club competitions before being consider this is what I had to do Silver

Hi Everyone the time I was Lady Captain and on Selection I found it the most difficult, you can argue your corner but when you are out voted
there is nothing you can do no matter how unfair you might think a decision,This is not for the faint harted you will get blamed for everything
You can only do the best you can at the time from a Past Club Selector I suggest everyone takes a year in the position

Seen some strange things happen with Selection over the years, all depends if you have one person like the team Captain picking the Teams
You can get him putting rubbish Bowlers into the A team because he is friends with them
Great believer in having a Selection Committee who meet once a week more fairer way of doing things Surfer:cool:
Hi All,
Always amazes me when the team goes up on the wall, bowlers who were elected onto the selection committee last year, all of a sudden get to playing in key positions of the best teams.
It's never right, unfortunately the club pays the price of underachieving or losing members.
Silly clubs!!!!

At the club that I played for last year the captain used to put teams up well in advance and then lo and behold just before the match started he made wholesale changes even though all the named players were there. His reason for this was to put himself with the players who were playing well at the time.
By the end of the season some senior members told him that if he changed an original team again they would not play.
