You've got the lead but your opponent catches up, your game starts to slide - what to you do to get it back - any tactics/tips?

I had some advice to take a break, compose and maybe break their concentration, dont think id try it in a friendly but could work

When this happened to me, I always used to find myself trying even harder to get the lead back, which would then in turn make me make more mistakes. I had to learn to try to take my mind off the score and just try to concentrate solely on my bowls and each end in turn, usually I would find that i could fight back that way.

I normally take a break, dont think id try it in a friendly - I think thats fine, I take a sip of water, go for a pee or whatever it takes to clear my head and focus

I can vouch for that too, its a kind of catch 22 situation. Sometimes it can also help to identify the cause (if there is one) of a slump in performance, whether it be a distraction on the green or just lost focus, acknowledging the problem can help overcome it.

I think the best trick is to take your mind off the score - difficult but the ultimate win in my book!

Keep walking up and down the green to look at the head, you have got to do something to change the way the game is going.

Thanks for all the responses, not sure I'll try the flashing!
Like the idea about dropping onto the foot!
Its a difficult thing but I think you can try anything to get the game turned around.
Thanks

I pretend the opposition is a really nasty person, sometimes its true, that seems to work for me.

A lot is talked about tactics, focus I think is the key, did go through a period where I practised/practised & a bit more, in the end overdone it a bit, a few days break is as good as anything.:D

If your opponent is catching a particular hand very well then make things difficult for him by playing on the same or forcing him onto the other hand.
