Hi Everyone

Lounging around in front of the tele, No work today couldn't get the car out of the drive
Last time I looked there was very intersting posts on this Australian Bowls revival
Does anyone know where they have gone i going to email them to a friend who is thinking of going to Australia for a Holiday

Hi Fitter lovely to Welcome someone new, did read thread about bare foot bowlers someone had the idea of beginners playing without shoes and

whites'

Believe it took off with a lot of support and they had a lot new members join, it could be a bit cold for something like this in England at this time of year

I think the Clubs should look to do something similar in the Summer months

Hi Fitter,
LOts of hot weather in Melbourne , the hottest day on record 46 C that's
115 Fit has now cooled off to a pleasant 30F heard about the snow in England wonder where there is a happy medium. Our bowls penant games were called off. We have a rule that if it hits 38C at 11am or 3pm all games called off. It was 40C by 11am. I don't mind the heat we just jump in the pool and cool off. COld beer tastes even better when its hot.

Barefoot bowlsOur amalgamation with the RSL is getting better last week they put on beerfoot bowlsto get a more social aspect to the club. 48 players turned up. Beer was $2.50 a stubby 50% cheaper than normal. Prize money was a total of $400. A bowler was matched with a non-bowler.It returns on 18th feb with a max of 72 bowlers. It was filled with a couple of days.
Sorry about not being on the forum. I am a teacher and we went back to school this week, less free time I guess

Bundyboy your making me jealous would love to jump into a pool and have a cold beer
The Snow has only cleared after we squelched through freezing sludge for a couple of days talking about cold beer the only thing cold here is me
Took the dog down to the beach and it was even too cold for it could see the poor thing shivering and it had fur on
Tells you something about how I felt am indoors now and the next walk the dogs going to get is round the back garden and then it can scoot indoors quickly into the warm
Must be wonderful to be warm can see why so many Brits emigrate to Australia

Got better Bowling Clubs as well Surfer:cool:

Sounds like your Club have got it right, were lucky to get 48club members out playing never mind any new players

Once you get people playing bowls they usually are hooked the weather over here is not good for long enough to try barefoot bowling

But our Committees need to have a good hard look at how to attract new members and do away with some of the stupid rules that put new
members off from joining Surfer:cool:
