Hi Fellow Bowlers
Never thought I would be sitting here unable to put my foot to the floor epically with Christmas coming up
Know its only a broken toe but it is so painful Bowling is supposed to be a sedate game for the elderly
Need to be a high jumper to get out of the way of fired woods someone is going to get seriously hurt before something is done:(

Hi Blondie
Have often seen Bowlers leap out of the way of wayward woods no question firing should be banned Indoors http://www.julianhainesbowls.co.uk/forum/images/avatars/7963.gifAngel :(

I'm surprised that a lot of Clubs haven't done something abut this before now
We have had it brought up at Committee but we are outnumbered by the men
And the vote has alway gone against banning firing :(

Sorry to hear about your injury Blondie lets hope you are up and around before Christmas
Its not too bad when Skips fire outdoors but indoors is different some Bowlers think they have to play a firing wood with the same weight as they use outdoors
And they end up bouncing the woods all over the rinks, whoever is in charge in your indoor Club will have to take action against this Skip to make sure it doesn't happen again

I am sure at some stage Bowls England will look into the matter of Firing if someone had an injury, I don't know how the club stands on

insurance

would they be covered for something like this would it come under Health and Safety

The average age, of bowlers indoors is much higher than outdoor, players are less able to move quickly when a wood is fired into the head
Its about time this issue was addressed :(

Good Evening Bowlers play indoors myself and if one of the wood that are fired up the green were to hit an elderly person it would stop them

bowling Perhaps for a very long time, when your in your seventy's or eighty's an injury is not so easy to recover from I don't understand why the

clubs haven't done something about this before now

Good Evening Everyone from a very cold Cornwall, had to brave the shops in Truro today there was no way I was going to get out of it
Surprised it wasn't that busy which is just the way I like it hoping not to have to go again
Can see the shops are struggling never seen so many Sale signs and our only and largest toy shop is Closing down, could not believe it right before Christmas it was a family owned shop
Suppose places like Argos can ride the storm out Really sad to see Surfer:cool:
