Had a break in at my Club last week they kicked in the door to the bar area which was alarmed
They were disturbed by the six O'Clock short mat Bowlers and nothing much was taken, not a lot of cash kept in the Club over the winter
Question is are my wood which I leave in the changing room covered we use wooden sheds as changing rooms for the players
No one could give me a definite answer I cant afford to buy new bowls or shoes and the thought of dragging them home is not an option
Am thinking of not playing until I can get it sorted :(

Its that time of year some people will pinch anything

You would think Bowling Woods would be safe but they are worth a few

pounds

Not sure how many people would want to find a set in their Christmas Stocking

After the Summer Season I had would have left mine out side the Club

hoping someone would take them:roll:

Don't think anything is safe this time of year, but its a good point I am going to have a word with our Sectary and see if my woods are covered in the club
I leave them there all the time saves taking them home got lockers at Newquay wonder if that would make a difference with insurance
Will let you know when I find out Surfer:cool:

I always take my wood home its a personal thing if I lost mine not sure what I would do know it sounds silly but you get attached

Could go out and buy another set exactly the same but I don't think I would bowl the same

Your wood are not covered when left in the club, well not in ours anyway queried this a while back haven't got mine insured but I think you can take our extra insurance was going to look into it but never got around to it
One job on top of the list after Christmas

Hi Flyfire,

Had areply from Keith which is excellent and covers all my worries,
have pasted reply below, John:p

Hello John and fellow posters,

As always with insurance, I don't think that there is an essy answer, some of the issues are;

Some Clubs have limited cover some don't,
What if they aren't locked away in the changing room,
What if you are playing in an away game?
What if they are stolen from the car.

Have always been given to understand, and how I insure my woods are covered, is to insure your bowling equipment as an extension of the house contents insurance policy. Some contents policies have this extension automatically included.
Also understand the third party public liability is also extended to the sport/hobby, so if someone was to trip over your negligent placed bowling bag and claimed for injuries against you, there would be cover.

Sorry it's not a quick easy answer suppose the best thing to do is to discuss it with the company that insures the house contents

Thanks for the information Keith, sure you are spot on, had a chat with our sectary and our wood are covered if they are in the main building am seriously thinking of adding mine to the house insurance
If you take the cost of replacing waterproofs fifty pounds shoes fifty pounds woods hundred and eighty plus measure cloth etc and the bag
You are talking about four hundred pounds to replace thats a lot of cash to find

Bit of a wake up call when you add up the amount of cash you've spent on all your Bowling kit thats not including the colored jackets shirts etc

When we play away often go and have a wander around and get a bit of lunch leaving all the bowls bags sitting around

Never heard of any going missing but people I know have lost new shoes and money out of their bags

With things getting tight wouldn't think it would be a Bowler who would be responsible but anyone can walk into a changing room and help

themselves
