Posted a reply to 32 metres, look forward to exchanging comments and ideas about bowls. Thought I might start with what type of bowls do you use, our green speed runs from about 11 seconds which is rated as poor up to around 15 seconds which is rated as excellent. We also have a old synthetic which runs at around 17 seconds but is being replaced next year at a cost of around $150,000. Our top league bowlers use a mixture of Greemaster Premier, Henselite EVO's or Dreamline bowls. In Melbourne we have had our driest Spring and water shortage may have a major consequence for our bowling season which runs from October to March. Lots to talk about.

Angel http://www.julianhainesbowls.co.uk/forum/images/avatars/7963.gifHi Bundyboy great to have someone from Australia on the forum looking forward to a chat, we get so much rain over here every time you go out the green is different and the weight at the beginning of the season is so heavy its sometimes nearly unplayable
A lot of our elderly Bowlers cant get up the green, but as the summer goes on it gets very fast quite a challenge not like playing on artificial :D

I have a set of dream line which I play indoors with they are a really good wood but not if you are playing back end
Got a nice straight draw to the jack but will take a bit of green with a slight curve
Get a lot of complaints about straight woods but find next time you play against they they have got them as well

Our Club has just voted to end our Summer season a week later than we usually do because of the wet weather this year we had to cancel and rearrange so many games
When we had our closing date the month after was wonderful sunny dry weather
