Just had our Spring meeting this week, and we voted to put our green fees up to a pound a game, up until this year it was fifty pence, we had to purchase a lot of equipment for the green cost a fortune,

Bowls is the cheapest sport around, once you have your wood shoes, its just the joining fees, good company great sport, anyone leaving a club for a fifty pence rise in rink fees, needs their head examining,

Has anyone sat down and worked out the cost of playing in the friendly’s, love them but play a couple of games and buy your opposite player a drink, it gets pricey, any thoughts on how to cut the cost.:(

Hi we don’t usually have more than one drink. But if the missus is also playing, its five pounds plus two for raffle, and we have to supply the prizes, the drinks probably come in at six pounds bringing it to thirteen pounds, if playing twice a week the pension is getting stretched.

Hi Fogget, know what you mean about friendles, I seem to be called in to play a lot in the summer think the cost could have something to do with it, perhaps your club could cut down on the raffle,

the biggest cost for us is not for bowling, its fuel, we are about 17miles from our two nearest indoor clubs,so if your playing two to three times a week it can be expensive:( my outdoor club is about 100yds away

I can see my club from the garden, great only trouble is i am too convenient end up getting so many jobs, Know what you mean about petrol, price has gone through the roof, The trouble with my club it is allways fundraising, but its the same old people who attend, would me more fair if they put up the subs.

Petrol prices are dreadful, and we have to get about, just filled up the oil tank, and that has nearly doubled in price, the government take most of that, shall think before I vote next time.

We give two to three pounds, in travelling costs depending on the distance covered, don’t think this is enough, might bring it up at the next club meeting, 8-)any thoughts,

[quote=Bigbear;217] The trouble with my club it is allways fundraising,
i agree, a few years ago, I spent all summer saving items from my work (retail goods going cheap) to work towards a fundraising day. we raised a few hundred quid at the time, but even after that event they were still wanting to get everyone involved.
Mind, that club seems to be doing well know, it has two grown greens now, has had an extension on the club house and from the looks of the results in thr local paper, they have 9/10 teams across six divisions in the local county league!!

Sounds like you helped them out - maybe you could get some accreditation!
