Hope all is well, Wrong Bias, can't be easy.

We have just wrapped up our outdoor green for the winter (usual few do all the work) and now getting use to indoor bowls.

Makes the winter go round, although I do enjoy outdoor 10 times as much as indoor!!

Hi Everyone nice to keep in touch in the Winter Months had our Ladies Divisional Dinner last week, we thought because of the Bowls England that it was going to be the last one, but no great news we will still be having our Ladies meal
Our group of girls its a bit like going on a school outing, some girls on principal more that anything, brought some small bottles of wine,
they were charging five pounds a glass at this hotel, it was great fun
Laughed all the way through what is usually a very boring afternoon Sam:D

Hi Surfer, my parents moved to NZ in I think 1951, stayed 2 - 3 years then went back to England. Then decided they would come back to NZ.
So my oldest brother (born march 1950) and third oldest brother (born june 1954 - same day as wrong bias) were born in England. I was born in Birkenhead, Auckland in 1957 so I am a Kiwi.
My oldest brother is doing our family tree and has found lots lost relations and some interesting facts.
He also went over to England and Ireland earlier this year, to meet some of our relations and try to fill in some missing gaps.

Good Morning Everyone from a dry Cornwall still a bit cold had the dreaded ballroom dancing class last night
Enjoyed it better that I thought but still don't think its me as we started late into the lessons its not too expensive
Cost about ten pounds a night for the two of us works out about a trip to the pub if you don't drink much
Keeps her indoors happy so well worth it, hoping she will lose interest Surfer:D

We usually go to the display put on by one of the local villages, much safer they usually have a good firework display lots of stalls and hot dog stands etc kids love it costs about two pounds and you meet all the neighbors and Friends end up coming home with a few people for a drink Surfer

Afternoon Everyone

Went down the Village this morning and they were getting the Bonfire ready on the green they had a large lorry full of wooden pallets
Had the posters up all over the place letting us know it was on Wednesday night
Its a really good idea brings everyone together and less dangerous than people letting fireworks off themselves
Should be a good evening lets hope the rain stay away:roll:

Hi surfer, that sounds great and yes there are places arround that have displays on, but we like to have our own one too.
When we were living up north in a small community we had a similar affair to yours which was run by our local fire brigade. No cost but each family was expected too take a bag of fireworks and the firemen lid them. There was also a free saugages sizzle with bread etc.

Hi Bowlers lovely Weekend its sunny but cold in Cornwall this Morning the weather forecast looks bad sound like we have got some strong winds forecast
Hubby bought a Computer of the net it was a good make he couldn't get the one he wanted so had a reconditioned one with a three month warranty after having it a week one of the keys came off, we phoned the company up for advice and were told they would repair it but we would have to pay the cost of sending it to them, we took it to a shop who said we had to have a complete keyboard costing eighty five pounds,
We are now in dispute with this Company has anyone else had this problem about having to pay to send item back to be repaired:roll:

Surfer
11-08-2008, 02:44 PM

Sam
11-08-2008, 04:48 PM
Hate things like this can cause you no end of trouble, I think its always best to buy new and then you are definitely covered usually for twelve months
Sounds like this Company is trying to pull a fast one worth pursuing fair bit of money to get it fixed :(

Marked a game last week some Pratt told this new bowler he only needed to book the rink for one session
Guess what started at ten and we were still there at twelve and the disabled Bowlers arrived ready to go onto the rink
Total fiasco ruined what was a good singles game and our Bowler lost the game
Had a few choice words to say if this Pratt didn't know what he was talking about he should have shut up
ALL Singles games should book two sessions can easily take this long:confused:

Had this happen to me one year think my opponent knew what he was doing only booked the rink for one session

Think someone told him I would not put up much of a game or he was too mean to fork out the money for the extra session

Ended up playing the game with all the other Bowlers standing on the end of the rink waiting to play Lost the game not sure if it was the extra

pressure of having spectators

Or he could have been using tactics could do with a firm rule on this one Surfer:cool:

It takes twice as long to play a singles game and if you get an opponent who keeps walking up to look at the head or slows the game down you are going to need it Angel:D

Not saying he would have But we all can learn a lesson from this:(
