Looks like a really big difference in the size of carpet bowls if you see a jack beside them, bet it is equally as skillful to play with these as normal sized woods

Hi http://www.julianhainesbowls.co.uk/forum/images/avatars/7963.gifHave played short mat and I know there is always a piece of wood in the middle have whacked it often enough,
Not sure if this is a white circle which you might have to go round could be some sort of rule
Cant quite see what it is from the picture:rolleyes:

Still haven't decided if I should stand in and play Carpet Bowls as well as Indoors
Am getting a lot of pressure because the team is very short of players
At the moment my game indoors is pretty good am worried if playing carpet bowls will mess my weight up Surfer:cool:
I would stick to one thing Surfer, might spoil you game indoors

Yes sure your right pops think Ive made up my mind, hate letting people down when they are short of players
Getting a bit of emotional blackmail, have been having a think
Could want me because they need a driver to pick up certain people
Know its nasty to think this But ??? Surfer:cool:

Had half an hour spare and took these pics of some short mat Bowlers
Thought this was a great idea they had a plastic cup on the piece of
wood in the middle of the mat
Every time they accidentally hit it they had to put ten pence in
What a good way to make the game more fun and raise a bit of cash
Someone had a very good idea:D:D
for a good cause be surprised how much they have raised

Great Idea with the container on the piece of wood
Brilliant way to get some funds for charity never miss ten pence now and then

Tried a lot of ways of raising funds over the years
All right if its only small amounts but getting a new club house
Needs some serious cash need your committee to look in getting some grants
cant get any enthusiasm for playing short mat this year, finding it very boring need something with more of a competitive edge its like watching paint dry Sorry having a moan:(

Havent heard of this game five hundered, we got some friends who have a son in law from Gambia and they have been teaching us a game called screa, really funny when you get a winning hand you have to signal your partner, everyone is sitting watching every move, and you partner has to shout screa, nearly caused a riot last time we played:lol:
