whats your opinion on ,""tight bowls"" for out door use
i think that if any body wants to use them its their choice,,,i know a lot of people are calling for a ban on them, but i dont agree with that,, they can work against you as well,,,,

Hate the things, straight wood should be banned, no skill at all just straight up the middle, only consolation is they haven’t got any swing to get round woods,

Hi I play lead, and use classic twos, I find them really good, it all depends how you deliver them, they take a tight line but will also take green, I have had a bit of success in my singles games, so tight woods are not all bad.

A good player can adapt, to any woods, people only complain if they are loosing, stop looking for excuses

The best excuse I heard, was a fellow player, who had just lost a game, saying His woods just went through the gaps, wonderful,

The skips have the best excuses if they are short, that’s a blocker, if heavy it’s a Churchill, that’s insurance in case the jack goes back, brilliant

well i tried out my tiger 2,s twice last sunday on two different indoor greens and they are supposed to be narrow bias, still had to take some grass, though not as much as the taylor internationals i used to use,i like them ,dont fancy using the really narrow ones though ,saying that if your a front ender all the time i would use them,,cant wait for outdoor to start to try them out on a fast dry green, if we get a summer that is :D

Let us know how you get on with your tiger twos, I play with classic twos outdoors, but had to change to a dream line indoors, the classic twos just take too much green , have you tried tiger twos on an end rink, would be interested to see how you get on, might consider changing wood before next season,

outdoors is so different, I have trouble on a heavy wet green, keep forgeting to swing my arm, perhaps tiger twos would hold a tighter line, and be less difficult.

Some of these tight bowls are ridiculous you only take a yard of grass and you know your bowl won't be far from the jack if your weight is right.
Common sense tells you that it has to be a darn sight harder to judge the correct grass and weight of a swingy bowl than a tight one.
I played on a rink yesterday where I was grassing for the number marker on the next rink using Taylor Aces and my lead was only taking 6 ft of grass using Drakes Pride Professionals - now tell me who needs the most skill ? People are using bowls designed for indoor use outdoors, and the best answer to this is to mark the bowls below a certain bias "for indoor use only"

I presume that when you are talking about narrow bowls you are refering to the likes of Lazers and the latest ones Edge which are no use to anybody than a lead.

I play outdoor on grass and synthetic and indoors on carpet with what I mconsider to be the most versatile bowls Classic 11s. Depending on how you bowl them they will go narrow or moderatly wide.
