View Full Version : Never try and help again (Builders)
Know I am Going off the subject of Bowls, Had a Friend who is a builder and recommended him to a fellow bowler for a job, she wanted some oil Central heating and new bathroom, everything went fine for a while
Now I am right in the middle of it she wont give him the final payment because she says the work is not up to scratch
He wont finish the Central heating something to do with a certificate
Wish I had kept quiet when she asked me if I knew a builder,
Think they are both blaming me what on earth can I do

Golden Rule never ever recommend anyone can get yourself into all sorts
of trouble
Epically trades men someone gave me the name of a plumber I know he quoted a good price had a disastrous experience you get what you pay for:(

Have you ever had this The Builder arrives in the morning with tools and you think great this job is not going to take long
Next thing they go off for materials or supposed materials and you don't see them the rest of the day
After a week of this you figure it out, they are doing two jobs at once
No good complain they go away for longer end up pulling your hair out
Once they start a job you are struck:(

:rolleyes:Bit of a tricky situation as you have recommended this builder, everything is not always cut and dried, she might be a fussy madam and her expectations are higher than expected
Only thing you can do is keep a low profile and let things sort themselves out in time

Get the Good get the bad I myself have done a few jobs for people in the past, not an expert but know my limitations some chaps try and take on too many jobs and end up in a right pickle If you do a good job you will always get more work, pays to do a good job Surfer:cool:

God don't talk to me about Builders had a back porch and wanted a new door, Someone recommended a Builder he came up agreed a price and removed the door
Then went off to get something i had a new door delivered he did not come back, he came up every now and then and did a bit of work
Spent a whole week without a back door he did come back on the Friday and finish the job, think he wanted the money for the Weekend never have him again:confused:
Never Ever get a friend to do a job for you very hard to complain when things go wrong, you could end up with no friends had it happen once
I have learned a lesson the hard way, shall never do it again, my friend is still a bit distant sure she blames me the subject is still rumbling on nothing has been resolved :(

:D:DWell I got Hubby to tile the bathroom floor, I'm not sure if its just me but I didn't know weather to laugh or cry He started and everything looked great I kept well out of the way, next thing hes shouting my name I could hear the panic in his voice, he is sitting on the floor with a hammer trying to get this tile to go down flat, do you know what the silly beggar had done he got fast setting adhesive everything was setting too quickly The tiles would en go down so he was hammering and breaking them, next thing he lifted the trowel up and it was stuck fast, I darent laugh but it looked so funny he was fuming he couldn't get the tiles up or down
Think i would rather have a dogey builder but it wouldn't be half as funny :D

Might not be a bad idea could name it DIY disasters mine is a classic
Moved into an old cottage fell in love with some silver and pink striped wallpaper would be lovely in my bedroom, got the plum line out and started out all right, fine untill I got to the corner don't think they knew how to make square rooms all the stripes were going at an angle into the corner, got so fed up ended up buying a unit to hide the angles never Buy striped wallpaper if your house is any age :(
Got to be plain keep everything white so much easier
