View Full Version : Committe and selection, lists
Noticed there is a sheet up in the changing room, With all the Club positions, Secretary, Ladies selection committee, Ladies Treasurer, all have been seconded,
Looks like its all been decided before hand, lot of muttering this year,
Because the ladies on selection played in all the Important Games,
Does this happen in every Club, Jean,

When someone runs for a position they have to be seconded, but positions are not finalised until the AGM. So if say more than one person has been nominated for the position of Secretary, then the members have to vote for who they want.
Anyway that's what is supposed to happen.
Would be a brave person, who puts their name foreword for Selection,
After the list goes up, in my club, all positions are discussed, by the few,
And People get picked, know you can put your name up,
But its not worth the Hassle involved, Sam:roll:

Happened last year, a very respected player, put his name up, for Captain of the B team,
Everyone thought it was cut and dried,
He was approached by another B team player who asked if he could be his
Vice Captain,
He was told no he had not made his mind up yet, so this Chap said well if thats the case i shall stand against you,
Went to the vote, at the Annual General Meeting, and the chap who had been turned down for Vice Captain, got selected, by one vote,
Was all hell to pay, divided the club, the player who did not get in, Sulked and wouldn't play for ages, goes to show, Crabie:rolleyes:

The Powers that be, sort it out before the nomination sheets go up,
If they think someone would be good on committee or selection,
They will take you to one side, and ask if you are prepared to put your name up,
Have seen some brave people put their name foreword, not good if it goes to a vote, and you get defeated, Bigbear

Got to admit, the Ladies Selection Committed, always play in the important Club Games,
Suppose its the perks of the position, for my part they are welcome to them Blondie:rolleyes:
Our Ladies, when selected to be Captain, have to do two years,
They also have to be Vice Captain, for two years, thats four years in total,
Not many Ladies want this commitment, four years is a long time,
There is a lot of pressure, with selection, friendlies, ETC,
My friend was approached to be Vice Captain next year,
And turned it down,
I think if it was for a shorter period of time, you would get more people taking up the position, Mary:roll:

I'm not sure, but i think the men only do one year,
It makes more sense, if us ladies only did it for a year.
A lot more people would take on the post,
