Have clicked on the link and it looks pretty good am going to get hubby to send off for a free sample
Little bit worried about giving out my email address always let him deal with things like this
But I do struggle holding my wood in the rain, the new pro-line clothe has worked wonders for me last season going to invest in another one before next year in case it gets lost:D (Thanks Bundyboy)

I find the old fashioned Grippo does the job but if at the beginning of next Season they have some different sort stocked I will give it a try bit
of a stick in the mud when it comes to trying out new things

Men seem to have a thing about wearing them thinking about it have never seen any mens Bowling Gloves in the shops
Do they stock these Gloves for men ?????

You know Angel never see many men wearing the White glove for Bowling they might think its a bit girlie
But if they don't make them pacifically for men it could be the reason
Am going to Goggle it and look on Bowls Suppliers should have dint this before starting to put this post up, Surfer:cool:
Hi Kiwi Bowler,
Thanks for your help!!!, my free sample came 2 days ago of 'ITAC2 sports grip', so yesterday was helping getting the 'Green', ready for the winter. So when ever one had left me to put the equipment away, I couldn't resist it, got the woods out and had a few ends (15 in total) the green was dry but wet underneath.
The grip was excellent, recommend it to everyone, better than a white glove!!
Thanks again Kiwi Bowler,

Hi E T
Like the sound of this new ITAC2 sport grip will give it a try epically as I can get a free sample
Grippo is all right but the number of tubes I have lost need to tie a piece of string on mine they go walk about
And they are not cheap either, by the time I get some spray chalk and grippo can spend a few pounds:roll:
Hi All,
Thanks for the info on 'ITAC2 sport grip' have sent for a sample. will let you know how I get on.
Play during the winter on an outside artificial green, I have problems with the woods slipping.
Have always used a bit of gel in the past but on wet days it just comes off. Can't wait to try it!!!!

http://www.julianhainesbowls.co.uk/forum/images/avatars/7963.gifDo use the white Bowling Glove but on a wet day if you get through a few games they end up all wet and slimy
Even with having more than one its easy to struggle later on
Would be great if they found something that would give you a reasonable grip
Shall be looking to see if I can get a free sample to try this out let you know how I get on Angel:D
My free sample arrived Yesterday looking forward to trying it, I don't think anyone likes bowling in the wet especially if they have trouble gripping the 'Woods', I have used like many other wonder cures, Gloves, Cloths, Grippo etc everything seems to work until it becomes really wet then nothing stays in control!
Will let you know how I get on:cool:

I have just purchase a microfibre bowls cloth. Even when its wet it will dry the bowl. Used it last week and it works a treat. After a couple of wipes the bowl is bone dry.:D

Tried on of those cloths at the end of last season, one of the Ladies lent it to me in the middle of a game because I had run out of dry clothes couldn't believe it I was ringing it out and it still dries my woods
Only thought is that it could have a bit larger was a bit on the tiny side
But it was a magic cloth am definitely getting some

But still can play a mean game of Bowls!!!!
Nice to see you young ones getting involved, but not with my Stocking!!!

Hi All,
Happy Christmas & New Year to you all, can anyone suggest a good set of woods.
As it's a New Year, have saved all my pennies and I am going to treat myself to a new set of woods.
I currently mainly play 3 in the rink, with size '4 heavy classic'
in black.
Going to change for 2 reasons,
1) Fancy a colored set, don't mind what color.
2) Current set needs stamping in 2 years time.
Most greens are damp & heavy for most of the season then a bit dry
hard and fast at the end.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Del
Hi Del,
Choosing a new set is such a personnel thing always difficult to suggest.
Changed mine mid January last year and went down to Bowls shop which I am lucky is only a couple of miles from where I live.
She had 3 sets as returned (swapped) Christmas presents and she let me borrow all 3 for an afternoon, providing no marks etc
It did not take many ends when it was clear the set of Classic 2 size 4 color blue were the ones for me, they have the grip which is good in wet weather as I play with them indoor and out, play back end.
Paid £160 as they were only out of the shop for a couple of weeks and no marks.
Hope this is of some help Del,
Best of Luck

Always worth looking at buying a second hand set, as long as you know the size and make you want
The number of Bowlers who make the mistake of buying new woods only to find they don't suit
Our Clubs noticeboard is full of woods that players want to sell as well as bags, it would be worth giving other clubs a ring to see if anyone is selling woods that might suit
Hi All & a bit of a P. S.
Bigbear's point about size, is so important, the worst thing is that you find is a cheap set and compromise on size, especially if they are to big.
A good friend of mine bought a 'CHEAP' secondhand set that were great in dry weather but as soon as it was damp/wet they would slip and become a nightmare.
So I should have said size is important as anything else.

Best advice I can give you is take your time Mate, I think the price of Bowls will tumble like everything else and you can pick up a bargain, before you buy anything borrow as many sets of different Woods, playing indoors is so different from outdoors in bad weather try and get a roll up outdoors on an artificial green might give you some idea of the grip Surfer

Hi All,
Del, will be interested to hear which woods you eventually buy!, I don't have a clue as I am thinking of getting a new set!!
I play against someone who has a cracking game, I borrow the woods for a few ends afterwords, I'm all over the place.
Often its in the way they deliver the woods, type of green etc ,I think then of course ability comes into it.
As I have not been bowling long and will be getting a set in the next 12 months that is if I can ever decide on a set to have.
I know some very experienced bowlers who have a set for different green types, then when they lose they blame the woods!!!!!
Happy New Year,

Every time I get beaten I blame the wood the green got a variety of excuses which I repeat, have got to admit sometime its just me thats not very good at the game
But do know some very Good Bowlers who play with a number of sets of wood for greens in different conditions
Wouldn't be any good for me would never be able to make my mind up if I had more than one set

Hi Angel,
Just to point out it is quite legal to have the trail ends in any woods you want then decide which woods to use for the start of 'END 1'
The only rules are that you can't use more than the game dictates,
ie; 2 woods singles --2 wood trail end, 3 wood triples ...3 wood trail end,
You can have less, NOT MORE.
Happy New Year

Hi Keith
Didn't know you could try out different woods on trial ends, could be very useful will have to check this out Know for sure someone would challenge me if I tried it, always get one or two people that will pick holes in everything
Played one game where my opponent kept picking on every little thing the marker did sure she was playing tactics I know the marker belonged to my club, and as far as I could see did a good job some players will try anything when they are getting beaten:roll:

Hi All,
A local shop has a set of Drakes Pride size 3 just used a couple of times for £110 in their sale.
Am quite keen my size and everything, but never played with them before, a couple of mates recon they are quite good, but they play
with Classic 11's
Anyone with any thoughts,
Thanks
Keith
Hi Keith
Been tempted and bought wood in sales before and ended up trying to sell them you will find the notice board at every club with half a dozen sets
Take your time borrow and try different ones before parting with hard earned cash
Only the latest Colored woods can be sold on and then at a loss from a very old experienced Bowler:rolleyes:
Got a friend who plays with Drakes Pride and she is some Skip, you don't say if its for playing indoor or outdoor do know they take a big wide
swing Don't know if this is any help Sam:D

I personally don't think you can beat classic twos they are good indoors and out, if any bowler is thinking of changing they should give them a try,

Just to say a big thank for all your help and advice, not only on the site but the private messages you sent me,
Thank You

picked them up today, with the trade in for my old woods, paid £160.
Dear enough but the do look nice & shinny, don't want no one firing at these!!!
