Hey there! Glad to be on a medium that allows me to share some of my silly issues which wouldn't probably be heard elsewhere. Here goes--I am hanging out with a guy who is a serious bowler--he's on leagues and bowls throughout the season a minimum of 4 days per week. The first time I went with him he bowled so well. The last two times though he was lousy. What was most startling for me to see was how aggravated he became. He ultimately stormed out of the alley to "get some air" and when he returned he bowled a one strike but that was the best he did for the remainder of the game. His team eventually was swept in 3 games. He seems resistant to encouraging words but I want to help motivate him so what can I do or say to him? Or should I just let him be and remain silent when he throws his temper tantum?
thanks for responding. Cas

Hi Divine867
Sounds like he plays Bowls but not lawn bowls which is played on grass or Indoors carpet,
But its all the same when you are losing I have seen the most good natured people come off the green fuming and saying words that they wouldn't normally say, they will blame everyone but themselves its all part of playing a competitive sport,
Best advice I can give is keep quiet and don't comment on anything its always going to be someone Else's fault when they lose and if you say anything you are putting yourself in the firing line.
You will get the blame no matter what

Take it from me girl you need to look for another chap i have found over the years anyone who is a bad loser is not going to change what i would
like to see is you taking him on and beating him if he can cope with that you are in with a chance,
Sorry but life is short you shouldn't have to put up with someone getting into a strop whats he going to be like when you have a couple of kids
keeping him awake at night.

Heard the saying Grumpy Old Man not sure the old would apply to your boyfriend I have seen so many friends waste their time trying to change their partner,
Take it from me it was the best thing that ever happened to me was when mine cleared off.
Got a better model now much more cheerful
Good Luck :D

Give him the push!!
Expect he's the same in life when it's a bit stressful, sport should be a bit serious and fun:wink:

I know one chap who has given up Bowling because he couldn't cope with losing he would stomp off the green in a huff,It became a joke in the
Club they even took bets on how long he would last before losing his temper,Some people have a very short fuse and this chap was the same with
his wife she refused to play with him even in friendlies.

Hi Divina869
I would give up trying to encourage your chap and look around for someone new all depends how much you love him I am very competitive myself and bowl sometimes five days a week but I never lose my temper do come home pulling my hair out after I have played rubbish and threaten to give up,
Usually change my mind the next day.
Good Luck Angel:rolleyes:
