Went to the Coffee morning down the Club at the weekend and one new member has come up with a very good new idea on how to raise funds,
She had filled up a sheet with squares 200 in total and you picked a number out they were 1 to 200 all different amounts if you picked a three you paid three pence and put your name on a square if you picked out number 169 it would cost you £1 69 pence it was very good fun and she managed to fill in 25percent of the sheet,
They are going to do the grand draw at the Christmas Coffee morning prize money is
First prize £30 second Prize is £20 third £10
Total money raised would be £140 POUNDS NOT BAD
Any new or novel idea is always welcome we find people are getting fed up with coffee morning and raffles the discussion at our last meeting was
that if we put up Subscriptions it would be better because every member would have to pay not only the few people who run and attend these
events,

The old idea of a club room jumble sale with member donations (and friends of members etc.) will usually raise a few bob. The other move is to place a trading table somewhere in the clubroom once again showing member donations. D.V.D.'s, Videos, C.D.'s, Books, Magazines, Bric-a-Brac, unwanted bowls gear etc can go on the table. Anything large such as a Fridge can have a description/photo. Our cricket club used to do a letter-box drop in the local area saying that we sought unwanted goods and gave a phone no. to arrange pick-up (it would be wise to exclude large items of furniture and especially mattresses)!
Good luck.:)

Seems all clubs all sports need to raise funds these days.
Trouble with coffee mornings etc it's generally a solid few that support and contribute to the funds.
My club recently introduced a 'horse race' meeting, done via DVD during last winter, it was very well supported especially from the younger players who don't support the coffee mornings.
The race right raised nearly £400 and lots of interest in doing one next year:D:o

We call this the table top where we have a table that bowlers put all unwanted raffle prizes or things they don't want, its surprising how much money this raises, we have had a few suspicions that people are taking things without paying for them to sell at car boot sales.
Could be Club Gossip ????

Well anything that goes on our table down the Club is a load of tat but people always buy things and at the end of the Season what doesn't sell is
boxed and taken down the charity shop,
After seeing the prices of shirts in Marks and Spencer's at £35 pounds I can understand why Truro has Ten Charity shops and believe me without
them some of our pensioners couldn't afford their winter coats.

We organized a bring and buy event where Members brought along clothes or anything they didn't want and priced it up the Club got half the price the seller the rest it was amazing how much was raised,
So many Bowlers buy new Clothes and never wear them.
What a good way to raise funds.
