Have been having a look on bowls New Zealand

came across this one.

Touchers
 A bowl should be marked as a toucher by a member of the team that delivered the bowl as soon as it comes to rest.
 If a bowl is not marked or nominated as a toucher before the next bowl comes to rest, or in the case of the last bowl of an end, before a period of 30 seconds after the bowl has comes to rest, the bowl is no longer a toucher.(Law 25.3)
 The position of a toucher or a jack in the ditch can be marked, in addition to the indicator on the bank, by drawing a circle around the toucher or the jack in the ditch.
 If the position of the toucher or the jack is moved in accordance with the laws, the mark around the toucher or the jack will be removed another mark can be drawn around the bowl or jack in its new position.

Does anyone know why our rule on marking a toucher is different, as far as i know a marker can wait until the next player delivers their wood before marking the toucher, never heard of a bowler drawing a circle around a bowl in the ditch, couldn't do it at my club, ditch is full of rubber clippings, to stop the bowls getting damaged,

Hi, yes you can wait to the next bowler delivers their bowl, but you have to mark the toucher before the next bowlers bowl comes to rest.

If the surface of the ditch is vegetation or synthetic, then lines can be drawn with chalk.

Hi glad to know marking a toucher is the same as in New Zealand, we usually give the players the choice, to mark it as soon as it stops, or when the players has delivered his next wood, thought the men had gone mad at the beginning of the season, came down the club for cleaning day, and they had the Hoover our and were hovering the ditch area, looked real strange, turned out they were putting some spare carpeting, down to stop our bowls getting damaged,:D

Hi there, the position of a toucher in the ditch can be altered if the toucher is moved by a jack in play or another toucher in play.

Hi Kiwi Bowler, see what you mean, if there is a toucher in the ditch, and you have another toucher on the rink, and someone gives it a whack, and it lands on the live wood, you could get the shot, think i have got this right, have learned a lot of facts on this site very useful in the ladies changing rooms, thanks.:D:DAngel
