Got a problem folk, had some youngsters joined, doing well and lovely to see, we have got someone who is cleared for working with children, only problem they tell us they have got to have separate changing rooms, we are not a big club and there is no where to put a shed, know we have got to have these rules to protect kids, is causing a real headache, can see us having to ask them to leave great shame.:(

We do have to protect our children, these rules were enforced for a reason, is there no where you could cordon off a small area, know a very small club which uses a curtain to divide the ladies changing area,Silver

correct me if im wrong but if our kids play in a game which requires "official clothes"they usually arrive dressed for the day all they have got to do is change their shoes and you can do that anywhere,we have separate locker rooms ,but they are only used for shoe changing and hanging up blazers,i take it you have a different dress code for kids, our,s normally wear casual clothes when bowling

Hi Wrong Bias, if the kids play in a friendly, they wear club colors, but roll up in grays and white, we have been advised by the member who has got her child protection certificate, that separate changing rooms is advisable, not only for the protection of the child but for the adult member as well, the same goes for giving a child a lift to a match, it is recommended that more than two adults are present, have been looking into this, in more detail, and it is not compulsory, think our lady got a bit bogged down with the paper work, in an ideal world we would have lots of room, still looking for ways to make it happen,Barry

We would definitely have a problem, no changing rooms at all, everyone comes in the bowling clothes, have got ladies and gents, in another building, public toilets, beside the football pitch, would like more rinks as well, need to win the lottery, :(:(Crabie

Tricky, best thing is find an area and put a curtain up, know a club who before they got a grant, the gents had a changing room, the ladies were curtained off, not the most comfortable way, some ladies like to wear casual clothes to go shopping in later, not a big area, we were all tripping over each other, did get a laugh or two,:D Angel

Can just imagine what the men must have thought, with all the large bulges flapping the curtain, and the squeaks and chatter coming out, women tend to forget people can hear, would love to be a fly in the mens changing rooms,:D:D Angel

Very interesting, by what I'm reading over there you have to have separate changing rooms for boys and girls. That they can't just use the ladies or mens?
Most of the clubs in NZ don't even have changing rooms, although they do have separate ladies and men's toilets and both areas have wheel chair access.

Hi everyone, yes we do have separate changing rooms, its a good thing we have some guide lines, to keep the kids safe, with more youngsters getting into the sport, sensible thing having someone who has been checked out by the police, if they are giving coaching, this is required for anyone working with children sounds as if things are different in New Zealand, do you have the same rules over there.:cool:Surfer

Cant think of any bowling clubs, who don't have separate changing rooms, everyone needs a little privacy, very glad the rules on young people are being thought about.and acted on.
