Hats Stupid Stupid Rule

We have been told that we can wear hats of any kind when Bowling, But when playing competitions (we must all wear the same colored club caps)
I know someone who has just had a mole removed from her face and is waiting for the hospital results she has been told to keep out of the sun,
What is she supposed to do colored caps only shade the front of the face not the side or neck they don't make Colored bowling hats that shade all of the face our girls are putting their health at risk,
Why do officials always come up with these ridiculous rules what difference would it make if bowlers wear colored hats or white hats

Peoples health is more important.

What we should be wearing is hats like the Australian Bowlers have they have wide peaks that go right round and cover the whole face,

Why haven't the UK bowling shops caught on and stock these hats nobody should be asked to play in full sun without proper protection,

And I know what I think about a rule saying a team should all wear the same colored caps

Serious story this, our local skin cancer specialist wrote to our bowls controlling bodyvabout the above average skin issues coming from out side sports including Bowlers and that HATS with a good facicial shading is a must!!

Often think of that letter when you see bowlers out on the green all day in the searing sun getting burnt!!

I don't like to say this, but this could be health & safety issue, because if you are working outside in the sun your employer has make sure its safe to do so. So I don't think legally they can stop you wearing proper protection against the sun.

The reason for the uniform rules are to provide a uniform look for each team of players (see what I did there?:p).

For the interests of health, I would send a letter in to the Controlling body regarding this explaining the issues which hopefully they should action accordingly.

I have to say if I was an umpire on duty and this was raised along with the reasoning, I would have no qualms about making an exception for this player.

Obviously you haven't met our women, some of the officials many think are still in the dark ages, with rules you don't know existed, any young lady bowler comes along. Has NO chance!:D
