Came across this article of banned drugs for Lawn Bowlers i cant make head nor tail of it, but its just as well prescribed medication is allowed because the Bowlers I play with most if not all are taking a cocktail of pill and potions, I often wondered why some of them look spaced out.

Hi Devon Bowler,

Great post, know what you mean about the amount of tablets bowlers are taking these days, looking at the results to date I don't think they are performance enhancers!!8-)

What a list I don't know what half of these are have often wondered what sort of things you would use that would make you bowl better, the girls at my Club had a craze last year of taking these vitamin tablets they were like sweets and they were supposed to give you an energy boost, did try one but noting happened all I got was a fizzy tongue.:(

G Day All,

Been a bit quiet over our summer & bowling season, work been a lot of hassle,
shifts just when big comps have been & used up all hols!

Things look a lot better back to night shifts, gives me time to bowl in the day.

Got loads of winter bowling lined up to make up for last summer, playing on the artificial will do me good.

Have kept in touch with the site, will keep in touch8-)

Hi Skippy,

Good to hear from you thought something had changed as not many posts from you over your summer!!

Couple of 'A' team bowlers in my club are now missing 1 week in 3 due to shift changes and work pressures.
These days work is more difficult so bowling is taking second place because of work etc, sounds like O Z is no different!"

Keep the posts going:cool:

G'day John,

Never know a time in bowls when work and family pressures are interfering with bowls.

Must be the sign of the times, then you look at bowls schedule etc shows how much time it takes up, wouldn't mind being on an hourly rate for my bowling life!!:o

I worked rotating shifts for years and night shift always knocked be about -- there would have been no way I could have played bowls during the day and then reported for night duty.

Like you, I need some exposure to the plastic.

Cheers.

Hi All,

My Clubs been hit all was, 2 of our best bowlers are having trouble getting of work and be at the green for a 6pm start, even though they start early on league night, work pressures are having there problems!!

Now an even bigger problem, we have a Council owned green, been great for years they maintained the green we looked afterbthe clubhouse with the Council doing major repairs!!
With Council cut backs, they are stopping the green and major Clubhouse repairs and from a rent of hardly anything the want £3000 pa.

Trouble is we don't have the membership so our club has a limited time left!!!

Hi E T,

Things no different in O.Z. Although clubs run more commercially linked to pubs etc or privately owned, everything is strapped for cash, but prize money for the big tournaments seems to be holding up!!

Guess will all come round again lots of kids getting into the sport with good T.V. coverage.

G'Day All,

Hope the summer bowling is going well, for me having a great winter playing 3 times a week on the artificial, and what's more getting the old enthusiasm back!!
Work has settled a bit and back of the day shifts so things look great forbthe summer.

Interesting reading on the new rules, we played all last season with them, same faces seemed to win, funny thing the skip keeping the card seemed to get the most press, think they are better at moaning:)

No big deal really the no 2 turned the board every other end so the skip knew the score, good help in the old communication:wink:

Have a great summer!
