I'm just wondering, when one goes on a bowls holiday do they take thier own bowls or do they use bowls from the clubs they visit?

Hi Kiwi Bowler,
Have been on several overseas bowling holidays, before all the fuel hikes etc, a lot of the Bowls travel firms had an agreement with the airlines & you could take your bowls bag at no extra cost!!
But today!! all sports equipment comes within your meager allowance!!
Have known friends to put 2 bowls in hand luggage and shoes etc in the main case!! Now with security checks bowls in hand luggage might not be a good idea!!
What we have found recently is that overseas bowls club (outside U K) have a good selection of bowls for tourists & after a few ends soon get use to them, (think I like the challenge).
Sorry not a simple answer, where are you thinking of going on holiday??

Thanks, Wet Gear and hi, had been thinking about Aussie but now my other half and son are saying they wouldn't mind a trip around the UK. So I'm thinking I would like to play some bowls while I'm there too, haven't told her that off course;). But the trip would be about 2 odd years away as going to the Cook Islands next year. Also while I,m in the Cooks I will see if I can have a bowl at the Bowling Green in Raro:grin:

Sounds great, never know if you make the U. K. we could have a game of bowls, a true International game.
Looked on the web for a photo of the Bowling green at Raro, couldn't find one but did come across the write up below!
LAWN BOWLS The Rarotongan Bowling Club has an international standard bowling green. Visitors are very welcome at the Saturday roll up - except when specific tournaments are being held, or greens are undergoing maintenance. Starting times are l0am and 1pm with white dress required. Mufti dress is from 4pm, Monday to Friday. Green fees are around $1 as are the hire bowls. The club has a licensed bar open from 4pm daily.
Sounds very formal, noticed that they hire BOWLS not sure what Mufti dress from 4pm means????

Yes that sounds like an idea "Wet Gear versis Kiwi Bowler" and who knows we might be able to get a few other forum members to join in or watch:grin: .
I have seen the green in Raro, but never played on it, last time we were there it was closed (xmas 2006). We go to Aitutaki one of the outer Island all the time as my wife has family there.
Yes the mufti dress could be interesting8-)
