Thats great, good news for your club, how many clubs do you have in your division, over here we go by County's, Devon Cornwall,Gloucester etc, each County is divided by divisions, north south east west, long way to go to get to Worthing, not a lot of players make it, interesting how different Bowling is around the world:)

Hi there, in my division or Centre (Auckland) as we call it there are approx 50 clubs and in the whole of Auckland there are 3 Centre's: Counties, Auckland and North Harbour.
Our guy who won the Auckland single's will be playing against the winners of all the other centre's around the country. But I don't know if he's done that yet or not.

Hi we got four divisions, all depends on the area if you are rural, could be twenty clubs each just depends, had a ladies fours play in the county semi finals yesterday, got through to the final, and had to stop fifteen ends, the score fifteen fifteen, strange, the green was waterlogged, and they will have to play the next six ends on Sunday morning, got something good to look foreword to, if they get through, they will go to Lemington, and represent the County. fingers crossed. :D:D

Yes they are starting to play now when they are in High School as part of school sports programmes. Then a few carry on playing when they leave school and some of these are very good bowlers.
There are no very young bowlers at my current club, but yes our guy has been playing for over 20 years. He is one of the younger players at our club in his late 40's, I think.

Good to know there is a programme, to get young people bowling, not got anything like that, know one club with about twelve youngsters, they approached the local primary school, and had a bowls day, did the trick, seen a lot of little kids, about seven or eight, out practicing on the green, :D
Sounds a good idea, got to keep them, thats the problem, they get to a certain age, and girls, football, etc take over, not sure what the answer is:(

Hi everyone, half eight in the morning, another lovely day, got to go shopping this morning not my favorite pastime, went to Porthleven, last week lovely little fishing village, great shame nearly every house is a holiday let, know the Cornish economy need the income, but the local kids cant afford to buy a property, least of all pay the high rents, that are asked, know a lot of local families, where kids are living in caravans, summer houses etc, most of the places are owned by people living in London, the wages in Cornwall are not good, sorry just letting off steam:(:(.
Do sympathies with you Surfer, Cornwall is a beautiful place, but the house prices are a lot higher than other places, and the wages a lot lower, my daughter moved down there with her boyfriend, about a year ago, she is paying £600 a month rent, for a two bed plus bills for heating council tax, they are just surviving, and cant save up enough for a deposit, never mention getting a mortgage, unless we give her some help, they will never get on the housing ladder.:(

Hi Surfer, not sure how long flight will be as we might be having a stop over on the way there and back. Originally we were going to come over when my son finishes High School, but with the way petrol prices are going up:(. We have decided it might be too expensive then, in 5 or 6years.

Hi, is this high for a two bed room, in Manukau City (30 minutes from Auckland City) 2 bedrooms rent for between $280 to $340 a week, plus power and water.
Also just out of interest what would the average house in Cornwall cost for a first home buyer?
Surfer
07-14-2008, 09:24 PM
The house prices in England have been falling for a while, the problem is the building societies are not giving out so many mortgages, a starter home in Cornwall is about £190,000 pounds, for a two bedroom terrace the average wage is twenty two k, there is more below average than above, its nearly impossible for a young couple to get on the housing ladder, without help from parents.8-)

A bit different here, if you can show you can afford the repayments it's quite easly to get a mortgage from a bank. Some banks will lend up to 95% subject to a house valuation.
But the house prices in Auckland are high so new home buyers either have to buy on the out skirts of auckland or an apartment in a big block. Or move out of Auckland altogether.
They used to give you up to three times your wages, but this has stopped now, and mortgages are very difficult to get for first time buyers, house prices are falling in England, and houses are not selling so well, you also need a hefty deposit, not easy for first time buyers,:( Sam

Wish we had a large enough car park to rent out,
Always been a problem with people blocking others in,
Causes a lot of complaints, about how people park, ;)especially the ladies, Barry
You cheeky devil, us ladies are much better at parking, and a lot more careful ,
Should see how some of you chaps park, think they are the only ones who should be there,
Lovely day again Sam:rolleyes:
Devon Bowler
07-28-2008, 09:49 AM
Come on now Sam, some of the ladies take at least two parking places,
Because they cant maneuver the car around, know one elderly lady,
Who passed her test, many years ago, who could not reverse,
Heard she spent ages going round and round in the supermarket car park,
till she found a space she did not have to reverse out of, Devon Bowler:(

Oh thats naughty Kiwi Bowler, too hot a subject to be discussing, when the weather is so warm,
Started to rain, and looks like thunder storms, not talking about the parking,
Know one chap who lost a game badly, drove off and forgot to take the wife with him, was he in trouble, had to come all the way back, Not joking about this. Blondie:roll::roll:

Just logged on, couldn't believe the pics,
Must be a bit of a shock for it to happen again, you would think some sort,of measures could have been taken,
Did you have any damage done, wouldn't want to be the owner of the cars, Devon Bowler

my car is ok,the local council say they have done things to help, obviously not enough, one of the residents just moved in three weeks ago when his house got flooded last time,he will be moved back out today as his house was flooded out,it cost £135,000 to repair pics of his hhouse below ,breaking wall down to release water

Hi Wrong Bias,
Such great 'Photo's', strange old world have been staying with relatives in O.Z. & part of the outback they have invested in wine growing over the years, now it's blistering heat and NO RAIN, a really big problem for everyone.
When you have finished with all that water send it 'Down Under'.
Do love the photos shows with your bowling green a short way away what
diferences you have to play on.
Great to be home,
Oldie, (hope the photo comes out)

Hi Wrong Bias, up early this morning, still a bid down after yesterday, lost a bit of confidence, did have a drink think my opponent felt sorry for me, We are playing top club one thirty, got to do the four wood singles, not looking foreword to it, shall do my best,
Am going to take more notice what sort of camera i use, have got one that i download into picture package, which is very easy just plug it in,
Not really good with a camera, have only realized it got a switch that zooms in and out, a while back, if i took a bit more notice it could be a nice hobby, wish me luck will take the camera today, and get some practice, should be off the green pretty quick if yesterday is anything to go by, Angel

Hi wrong bias, nice to see the fishing pictures. I just love the sea, by the way what type of fish are they?
wrong bias
08-16-2008, 09:58 PM
they are called mackeral, they come into our shores in the summer months very easy fish to catch and onlight tackle they give a good scrap, they are a member of the tuna family, they are also good for you with omega 3 oil,one thing if returning mackeral back into the water on no account touch the fish with your hands just shake them off the hook, if you touch them they will die in a couple of days,,,,,,bet you wished you had,nt asked:)

no, I have found your reply very interesting:grin:, our fish that I catch alot of, off the beach or rocks is called Kahawai, but it's a bit bigger than your mackeral - which we only get here tinned.
