The chap I'm playing the Hong Kong pairs with (he works with me too) got a phone call Thursday evening and was told "our" was running a Triples Tournament on Sunday week.
He was then asked if he would do the Catering:confused:, not to play.:(
Well the next morning at work he tells me about it and I too feel very angry, as we didn't know anything about it. He's on the commitee too and we were not even asked to play!, but to do the catering.
He like me just came back to bowls last season after being away for about 3 years and joined this club as he used to play with a lot of them.
Anyway Friday he rung up the Tournament Manager about it and was told they had 20 teams coming and it was full?
Yet it wasn't advertised and we were not told about it, and the only players from our club playing are the top one's? who never come to play ups.
Anyway we are both feeling so angry!! and are thinking of joining another club next year.

Thats not on, i would be very angry, mind you joining another club, is not the answer, just kick up a big fuss, and make it known you are not happy with the situation, hell of a cheek asking him to do the catering, speechless Angel:(

Sod that, and he is on the Committee, if he is good enough to do the catering he is good enough to play, cant believe it wasn't advertised, to its own club members, something not right, and needs to be sorted, i would be stomping round the club house by now, in one hell of a temper.

I would bring this up at Committee, cant have people who are running things, bending the rules, you all pay your fees, and should be entitled to play in all competitions, not just a selected few, this is not right.
Clubs do seem to have the ability to annoy their own bowlers!!!
Is this an invitation only tournament?????
Moving clubs not always the answer, problem is all clubs have their own problems, if this is not a restricted entry tournament, I would write to the Committee expressing my extreme disappointment with the club and 'HOW
THE TEAMS WERE INVITED', was it the old boys network???
Once people start moving clubs, looking around at our local clubs, they move again.
Best of luck,
E. T.

This sounds like favoritism, ask around and see how many members knew this competition was taking place, strength in numbers, then make a complaint by official channels, :(:(
This sort of thing makes me so mad, some people who are on committees think the club is run just for them, they forget, everyone pays their fees, and are entitled to the same amount of games, you need to complain:(

Yes we will be going down this Sat to see if we can sort it out in person and we are still very angry.
This has never happened at any other club that we have belonged to.
My mate thinks they feel threatened by us as we did well in the champs, even though we have just come back to bowls? And these chaps have been winning the club champs for the last 2 to 3 years.
Anyway it seems they did the same thing to us 6 weeks ago and it was suggested they ring us, but they wouldn't. At least this is what we have been told.
Yes it's an open tournament, and we have found out they rung up other clubs to get teams, rather than ask the guys who come to roll ups. So there might be a few others who are thinking like us.

Don't give them, the satisfaction of leaving, got to stand your ground, and put in an official complaint, if not for yourself, but for all the other club members, hell of a cheek to ask your friend to do the catering, hope he told them where to go:confused::confused:

Just seen your post, you are doing the right thing, disgraceful, you would think they were trying to get people to leave, you cant treat members like this, could be they feel threatened, as you are winning, still no excuse, :(

Hi, glad you are sorting it out, better to go and see them personally, knowing they went to other clubs to get players, and ignored their own members, don't know what to say, first place of call is club members, and only if you are desperate, do you call on other clubs, something not right here.:( Angel

Cant have this, moving clubs is not the answer, got a mate who has moved clubs four times, just got to stay and win every comp, then tell them where to go, 8-)

Hi fellow bowlers, just an update.
After my mate phoned up the Tournament Manager of our club complaining about what's happened, things have started to happen somewhat. He got a phone call last night from our club secretary opologising about it and to assure us it won't happen again.
So I suppose it's now resolved, but we are still going down this Sat afternoon as we want to talk to them person to person.

Best way to do things, face to face, at least you got an apology, and they will think twice before doing anything like this again, still cant believe, they had the cheek, to ask your friend, to do the catering.:(

Yes he's still angry about that and he said today maybe that's why they wanted him on the commitee. He's a former chef, like myself, but we both are no longer in the line. And as far us I know they don't know I used to be a chef too;)

Yes that's what my mate said today and a couple more rang up last night to opologise, so it looks like they don't want us to leave.
