I talked to one of the top bowlers at my club today about changing my bowls.
He told me that I should stick to my old bowls as I'm playing well with them?
He couldn't see any reason for me to change to one of the new narrower bowls?:confused:

What do you chaps think? Have any of you changed your bowls that you have played with for a long time?

I have had my masters for 13 years now and got them re:biased, tested and re stamped a couple of months ago.

:confused:Played with a Skip, in a reasonable important competition, He had just changed his woods to Tiger11, they were bright blue, and had not used them for more than a week, they were dreadful, just straight up the middle no swing, he missed everything, could not believe an experienced bowler, would do this, his old woods were great a lovely big swing, at least they stayed in the head to cut the score down, just letting off steam, you know what happened we lost very badly, so no i think you should stay with tried and tested woods.

Got a mate who has ordered a set of red Almark Edge, never heard of them, think he is mad changing woods in the middle of the season, just because you have a bad patch, he was playing fine with what he had, waste of money.

Haven't come across these Almark Edge, must be new, hope they are not straighter than anything we've got, don't mind straight woods, but the makers are just going ridiculous, its all an idea to get us to spend more money, keep to what you are comfortable with.:rolleyes:

Not going to change mine, just won a game, still in shock, stick to what you are you used to, seen a few friends waste a lot of money changing woods, they end up going back to their old woods.:D

Am definitely, thinking of changing woods, to a narrow line bowl, they do seem to have an advantage, just not sure which one, lost so many games this season, will have to think of something, if anyone could recommend, a wood which holds a narrow line but with a bit of a curve at the end, so many makes on the market.:(

Know you right Wrong Bias, just so fed up at the moment, not playing well at all, i will borrow some different woods down the club, and play a few friendlies, and see if it makes a difference, got to do something, if i jump in and get new straight woods, i could end up selling them again, thanks for that, just down, looked at the joke section got a few new ones on, cheered me up a bit.

yes i know blondie,it really is dissapointing when your not playing well,as you try harder it makes it worse, then your confidence goes and you feel like giving it up,well the answer is,keep at it play as much bowls as you can,,, i know its hard, but you wont get any better sitting in the house,,,,,there thats the easy part now all ive got to do is convince myself.

Cheered me up no end, was not going to enter any club competitions, but changed my mind, wont get any better sitting watching, we have our tournament in July, which is open to other clubs, might as well jump in with both feet, and give it a go, Yes got to think positive, thanks:p

Hi Blondie, just out of interest which bowls are you playing with now?

Hello Kiwi Bowler, i am bowling with Taylor Ace, they take a pretty wide green, think i am just going through a bad patch, keep getting beaten, everyone has these narrow line woods, they can go in side the line i have to take, just fed up, but not going to give up, shall just have to practice more, the weather here is wonderful at the moment, hope you are having a good bowling season.

Yes Blondie that's why I thought about changing my bowls too. My masters also take a very wide green. But they also draw very well and I have been out bowling a lot with the narrower bowls:grin:
So I think it's more the bowler than the bowls and we just need to practise with the bowls we have.

Hi Kiwi Bowler, thanks for the advice, just needed to be told, know i am going through a bad patch with the bowling, sometimes i think its who i am bowling with, you are just going to bowl, and they shout same as before, i mean god what do they think i am trying to do, Ive blamed everything else, but its got to be me, just need to constraint more, and practice will let you know if i start to play better.:(
