Just played a singles game, which was the unbadged ladies,Kernow cup, the first end the marker told me i was holding, when i got to the head i was one down, her measuring was dreadful, both my opposition and myself were looking at each other, wondering what to do, one end i followed my opposition up to look at the head, the marker said to me you've no need to come up to look, I thought she was a new bowler, but later learned she was a seasoned badged player, not sure if this was tactics, what should i do if this happens again, i did loose the game, but it did throw me somewhat.:roll:

Been in the same position myself, a marker can make such a difference to a game, always go up and look at the head, it pays to check that you are holding .

How old was she, sometimes people loose it at a certain age, no offense meant to the oldies.

Been caught out myself, marker told me it was a measure, went up and i was three down, check every time, can change a game if you keep going up to see the head, good luck new Bowler.

Got to reply to this one,:D us oldies can give you a run any day, mind you a few of us are getting on, can be excused if we get a bit muddled, wait till you reach your eighties.:D:D

Yes this happened to me once in a singles match, so after that if I wasn't sure I would go to the head and check myself.
When I have been a marker and am not sure who's holding I always say it's a measure, so the players can come and check themselves

Just started to mark a few games, learn an awful lot, difficult sometimes to see who is holding, always tell players, it a good measure, and its up to them if they want to come up and look, changed my game, i go up at every opportunity, head looks so different when you get there.;)

;)just got to forget this game Mary, good luck if you are in any more competitions, I learned the hard way played two wood singles, was holding shot to win the game, played my last wood, knocked a opposition in for shot and lost the game, should have gone up and looked at the head, bit like a rabbit now up and down to the head.;)
