Not sure, a good guide is to put your hands around the bowl, if your middle fingers are touching, then this is the size you should play with, really trial and error, :p:p

Hi got to try out both sets of woods, in wet weather, if the woods are too large you will have trouble controlling them, then make up your mind, which set to use, good luck.

Great sport to take up, would be a good idea if the club has any spare woods around to roll up with different sizes and weights, its a difficult thing getting the right woods, there are so many makes, but you have got to be able to hold them, let us know how you get on, good luck;)

I find it really difficult on heavy wet greens, have now got a smaller wood, which helps, still have not mastered the game, shall have to keep practicing, its the only answer.:(:(

I have just recently started bowling, it took me quite a while to find wood that i could be comfortable with, ended up with classic twos, drove my friends mad, trying out their woods, could spend a lot of money changing woods. good luck.:rolleyes:

as i go along with the above post of placing the bowl between your thumb and fore finger of each hand to see if it is the correct size ,i still think ,for me anyway the root cause of some of my wayward deliveries is that my bowls (or woods as you say down south) are a tad too big,
but i do not want to change them ,cos if you go too small you tend to hold on to the bowl instead of a smooth release from your hand,,,

Think you're right mate, if its wet, you tend to grip the wood too hard, it ends up a wobbly, thrown a few in my time.:(

Yep thrown a few as well, just remember to swing your arm, reckon its the best advice, you can give ;) a new bowler.
